East Lammermuir Deans Nature Reserve

A nature reserve at the easternmost extremity of the Lammermuir Hills, the East Lammermuir Deans Nature Reserve is centred 2½ miles (4 km) west southwest of Oldhamstocks and 3 miles (5 km) south southwest of Innerwick. It comprises several Deans, or steep-sided gullies, eroded by ancient glacial meltwaters descending from Monynut Edge. These are a haven for lime-loving plants and support important areas of semi-natural woodland and species-rich grassland. Important species include Northern Brown Argus butterflies. The reserve is managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
