Omni Centre

Located on Greenside Place, at the top of Leith Walk, in the centre of Edinburgh, the Omni Centre represents a popular entertainment complex that opened in 2002. The principal attraction is a twelve-screen cinema, which features two digital 3D screens, but the centre also includes several restaurants, bars and a gym in the basement. Beneath are four levels of car parking, comprising 990 spaces.

Occupying a steeply-sloping site that lay unused for a lengthy period, the complex has an extensive glass frontage which incorporates the original Tudoresque facade of the former Hillside Parish Church, built as Lady Glenorchy's Free Church in 1846. The church closed in 1978 and all but the C-listed facade was demolished in 1986.

Outside is Dreaming Spires, a sculpture of two giraffes made from scrap metal, which was unveiled on 28th July 2005. These were the work of Helen Denerley (b.1956) noted for public art works depicting animals and birds installed across the country. The larger of the giraffes is 6.7m (22 feet) in height.
