An enigmatic roadside art installation on the peat road which runs alongside the A867, 2 miles (3 km) west southwest of Strumore in North Uist. Installed in 2004, Three Indicators of a Notion of Serenity is the work of artist Donald Urquhart (b.1959) and comprises three equally-spaced 'settlement style' road signs stating the Gaelic words 'Sàmhach', 'Ciùin' and 'Sìtheil' translated into English as 'Quiet', 'Calm' and 'Still'. The work was commissioned by Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Arts Centre in Lochmaddy. The peat road represents the former course of the single-track A867 road, replaced with a new wide carriageway in 2006, but retained to allow the local people to access their peat banks.
