Orchardton Woods

An industrial area on the western margin of Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire, Orchardton Woods lies a half-mile (0.8 km) west of Broadwood Loch. Light industrial units have occupied clearings in woodland which was planted on land that comprised Drum Mains Farm. Companies based here include the Yaskawa Electric Corporation, Kelvin Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms, the public and industrial lighting division of MacLean Electrical and a call centre for Scottish and Southern Energy. Westfield industrial estate lies to the south.

A 44-m (144-foot) high radar tower was built here in 2011 to augment the ability to manage air traffic in Central Scotland, mitigating the interference effects of Clyde Wind Farm on existing radar heads, primarily the one on Lowther Hill in South Lanarkshire.
