Ben Screel


(Beinn Sgritheall)

A mountain in W Highland Council Area, Ben Screel (Gael: Beinn Sgritheall) rises steeply from the north shore of Loch Hourn to a height of 974m (3196 feet) and is classified as a Munro. Its summit is marked by an Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar. Its northern flanks contain numerous corries, whilst the southern slopes, above the Loch, comprise steep crags and scree. The name Beinn Sgritheall is Gaelic for "hill of screes".
