A modest hogback hill which represents one of a number of drumlins in the W of Galloway, Bank Hill rises to 88m (288 feet) immediately to the north of the A75 Trunk Road and 1¼ miles (2 km) east northeast of Glenluce. Its principal axis or oriented NNE-SSW indicating the direction of flow of the ice sheet which covered this area in ancient times. There are five other summits with the name Bank Hill nearby, located 5 miles (8 km) to the east northeast, 7 miles (11 km) to the northeast, 10½ miles (17 km) to the east, 11 miles (18 km) to the east northeast and 14 miles (22.5 km) to the east southeast.
