Long Hill

An elongated little summit on the northwestern shoulder of Drumkerrick in the W of Galloway, Long Hill rises to approximately 100m (328 feet) to the south of the A75 Trunk Road, 3 miles (5 km) east northeast of Glenluce. There is another Long Hill of similar height located 2½ miles (4 km) to the northeast. Both are part of an extensive drumlin field, all aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of ice flow within an ancient glacier. There are other Long Hills located just 2½ miles (4 km) to the northeast and 4 miles (6.5 km) to the northeast.
