Kirkland Hill

A summit in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Kirkland Hill rises to just beyond 55m (180 feet) overlooking Wigtown Bay, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) north of Wigtown. This is composed of till, deposited beneath an ancient ice sheet, which once covered the area. Lover's Walk is a path which extends from Church Lane in the town below across the eastern flank of the hill, passing a transmitter mast that is located near the summit. There is another Kirkland Hill 2¾ miles (4.5 km) to the south southwest.
