A whaleback in The Machars of Galloway, Knocketie rises to just above 100m (328 feet) 2¾ miles (4.5 km) southwest of Kirkcowan. This is one of a number of drumlins in this area, deposited beneath an ancient ice sheet and aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of flow.
