Craig Gowan A pleasant wooded summit which overlooks Balmoral Castle from the south in Royal Deeside (Aberdeenshire), Craig Gowan rises to 406m (1332 feet) a half-mile (1 km) west of Easter Balmoral. It is notable for the cairns built on its slopes commemorating Royal marriages (Prince Arthur's Cairn, Princess Helena's Cairn, Prince Leopold's Cairn and Princess Louise's Cairn), together with the Purchase Cairn.
