Girvan War Memorial

The Girvan War Memorial is a prominent obelisk in Stair Park in Girvan (South Ayrshire), overlooking the Firth of Clyde and Ailsa Craig, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southwest of the town centre. Erected in 1922, this tall grey granite monument announces itself as "The tribute of the people of Girvan to those of her sons who gave their lives in defence of their country's righteous cause in the Great War 1914 - 1919". It was later updated to include those who died during the "World War 1939 - 1945". It is the work of monumental sculptors Messrs. Scott & Rae of Glasgow.
