One of Munro four peaks on a ridge known as the North Glen Shiel Range, Saileag rises to a height of 956m (3136 feet) and although not particularly distinguishing, with its flanks mainly grass covered, it does have a steep west face. The summit and northern corries are owned by the National Trust for Scotland. Its name originates from Gaelic and means "little heel".
