Auchinleck Railway Station

A railway station in East Ayrshire, Auchinleck (known as Achadh nan Leac in Gaelic) lies on the Glasgow South Western Line, in the centre of the village, 1½ miles (2.5 km) northwest of Cumnock. It opened in 1848 on the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock & Ayr Railway. It closed as a result of rail rationalisation in 1965 but reopened on 12th May 1984 and is now operated by ScotRail. Auchinleck Station is unstaffed and comprises two platforms linked by a traditional passenger footbridge. Passenger numbers have increased from 37,818 passengers per annum in 2010 to 61,838 in 2016. It is preceded by Kilmarnock, 12 miles (20 km) to the northwest, and followed by New Cumnock Railway Station, 6 miles (10 km) to the southeast.
