Carntyne Railway Station


(Càrn-Tìn)

A suburban halt on the North Clyde Line, Carntyne Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Càrn-Tìn) is located a half-mile (1 km) north of Tollcross and a similar distance east northeast of Parkhead in Glasgow City. This station was opened on the North British Railway's Glasgow and Coatbridge Line in 1888. Now operated by ScotRail, Carntyne Railway Station is unstaffed and usage has grown steadily from 192,872 passengers per annum (2009-10) to 351,572 (2016-17). It is preceded by Shettleston Railway Station, a half-mile (1 km) to the east, and followed by Bellgrove, 2 miles (3 km) to the west.
