Lochailort Railway Station


(Loch Ailleart)

A railway station on the West Highland Line, Lochailort Station (Gael: Loch Ailleart) lies 3 miles (5 km) west of Ranochan and 7½ miles (12 km) east southeast of Arisaig in Highland Council Area. This station opened in 1901, with two platforms but has subsequently been reduced to just one. It is preceded by Glenfinnan Railway Station, 8 miles (13 km) to the east, and followed by Beasdale, 4 miles (6.5 km) to the west northwest. Operated by ScotRail, Lochailort is unstaffed and is used by only 2102 passengers in 2009-10.
