Maybole Railway Station


(Am Magh Baoghail)

Maybole Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Am Magh Baoghail) is located on the Glasgow South Western Line in the centre of Maybole (South Ayrshire). This station was opened in 1860 on the Maybole & Girvan Railway. The station building is of brick construction and serves a solitary platform, the original two tracks having been reduced to one in 1973. Now operated by ScotRail, the station is unstaffed and saw a substantial increase in passenger numbers from 51,850 per annum in 2010-11 to 89,584 (2015/16). It is preceded by Ayr Railway Station, 7½ miles (12 km) to the north northeast, and followed by Girvan 10 miles (16 km) to the southwest.
