A railway station on the Cumbernauld Line in North Lanarkshire, Stepps (Gael: Na Steaps) lies between Stepps and Cardowan, 5 miles (8 km) east northeast of Queen Street Station in Glasgow. This station dates from 1989 and is now operated by ScotRail. It is unstaffed, comprises two platforms, utilitarian passenger shelters, and was used by around 270,000 passengers in 2016-17. It is preceded by Springburn Railway Station, 3½ miles (5.5 km) to the west, and followed by Gartcosh, 2½ miles (4 km) to the east.
The original Stepps station (known as Steps [sic] Road Station) opened on the former Garnkirk and Glasgow Railway in 1843. This lay a quarter-mile (0.4 km) to the west of the current station and closed in 1962.
