Located north of Loch Cluanie, within Glenaffric Forest and in the district of Inverness in Highland Council, Sail Chaorainn rises to a height of 1002m (3287 feet) and qualifies as a Munro. The southern ridge is at a gentle angle and a popular route of ascent. Its name is Gaelic and means "hill of the rowan".
