Hopefield

A neighbourhood in the south of Bonnyrigg (Midlothian), Hopefield developed from a property of the same name shown on the First Edition of the Ordnance Survey map in the 19th C. Public housing was built here in the 1950s, extended in the 1970s and augmented by private developments from the 1990s - 2000s. Much of the public housing has been sold under right-to-buy legislation. Further private housing developments in the 2010s lying to the southeast at Burnbrae have been named Hopefield Park and Hopefield Gait. Burnbrae Primary opened to the southeast in 2012 and, to the northwest, the Lasswade Centre in 2013.
