Blacklands

A public housing estate in Kilwinning (North Ayrshire), Blacklands lies a quarter-mile (0.5 km) south of the town centre. The estate was begun in the 1930s with two-storey four-flat blocks (cottage flats) in the south and completed in the 1950s with four two-storey houses in short terraces to the north. Later additions include single-storey semi-detached properties. Many of the properties here have been sold under right-to-buy legislation. Facilities include a primary school, and a bowling and social club.
