Queen Mary's Seat

A large stone at the top of the Cathkin Braes, Queen Mary's Seat lies exactly on the boundary between Glasgow City and South Lanarkshire, 1¼ miles (2 km) northeast of Carmunnock. It is said to be where Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-87), sat to watch the defeat of her troops at the Battle of Langside on 13th May 1558, although the authority for this statement is unclear. For many years it has been a popular tourist attraction.
