Overlooking the River Spey in Moray, East Elchies House lies a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Craigellachie. This is a three storey T-plan Laird's house, built of locally quarried sandstone for Captain John Grant in 1700. It is buff-harled, features crowstepped gables, ashlar dressings and a pepperpot turret in the angle between the main block and the rear-facing wing. Having fallen into disrepair by the 1960s, Easter Elchies House had was restored c. 1985. At the same time a single-storey office extension was added to the southwest, terminating in an octagonal glazed space. The house is now B-listed.
East Elchies House stands at the centre of the 195-ha / 485-acre Macallan Estate, which is actively farmed but is better known for the Macallan Distillery.
