Horse Hope Craig

(Horsehope Craig)

A crag overlooking the Manor Water in the Scottish Borders, Horse Hope Craig lies between the Glenrath Burn and Horse Hope Burn, a mile (1.5 km) northwest of the summit of Horse Hope Hill. The crags rise to 400m (1312 feet) above sea level. A collection of Bronze-Age items, known as the Horsehope Craig Hoard, was found on the scree slopes below by a shepherd in 1864. The items are thought to represent fittings from a cart and horse harness, dating from the 6th or 7th centuries BC. Most of the hoard is held by the Tweeddale Museum & Gallery in Peebles.
