Lochgoin Monument

A tall granite obelisk located on Craigenfaulds Moss, a half-mile (0.8 km) southwest of Lochgoin Reservoir in the extreme east of East Ayrshire, the Lochgoin Monument commemorates John Howie (1735-93), the author of 'Scots Worthies', which catalogued notable Covenanters and other religious figures. Howie had worked the adjacent Lochgoin Farm which had strong associations with the Covenanters. The monument and nearby Covenanter's Museum are accessible by foot across the site of the Whitelee Wind Farm.
