Kelvinhall

Kelvinhall is a small district, which forms the southeastern section of Partick in the West End of Glasgow. It is centred around the junction of Dumbarton Road and Byres Road. Kelvinhall takes its name from the subway station here, which in turn takes its name from the Kelvin Hall, located a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the southeast on the opposite bank of the River Kelvin. The area comprises Victorian red-sandstone tenement blocks, which incorporate shops at street level. The flats here are popular with students, given their proximity to the University of Glasgow.
