Dean Water, a small, deep, sluggish river of W Forfarshire, issuing from Forfar Loch (171 feet), and running 131/8 miles west-south-westward, through or along the borders of Kinnettles, Kirriemuir, Glamis, Airlie, Eassie, and Meigle in Perthshire, till it falls into the Isla 1 mile N of Meigle village, after a total descent of barely 50 feet. It abounds in pike, perch, and prime trout.Ord. Sur., shs. 57,56,1868-70.
