Parish of Urr

Urr is a coastal parish, which lies in Dumfries and Galloway Council Area, some 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Castle Douglas and 13 miles (22 km) northeast of Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway.

It is located in the old county of Kirkcudbrightshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 63.4 sq. km (24.4 sq. miles). Urr has 7 neighbouring parishes; namely Buittle, Colvend & Southwick, Crossmichael, Kirkgunzeon, Kirkpatrick Durham, Kirkpatrick Irongray and Lochrutton.
