Parish of Kelton

Kelton is a parish, which lies in Dumfries and Galloway Council Area, some 6 miles (10 km) northeast of Kirkcudbright and 22 miles (35 km) east of Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway.

It is located in the old county of Kirkcudbrightshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 46.1 sq. km (17.8 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Castle Douglas. Kelton has 6 neighbouring parishes; namely Balmaghie, Buittle, Crossmichael, Kirkcudbright, Rerrick and Tongland.
