Parish of Kilmuir

Kilmuir is a coastal island parish, which lies on the Isle of Skye in Highland Council Area, some 15 miles (24 km) north of Portree and 23 miles (37 km) west of Gairloch in Highland and includes 2 other small offshore islands.

It is located in the old county of Invernessshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 137 sq. km (52.9 sq. miles). Kilmuir lies next to Snizort parish. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
