Parish of Montrose

Montrose is a small coastal parish, which lies in Angus Council Area, some 7 miles (12 km) east of Brechin and 13 miles (21 km) north of Arbroath in Angus and includes 2 small offshore islands.

It is located in the old county of Forfarshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 16.6 sq. km (6.4 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Montrose. Montrose has 4 neighbouring parishes; namely Craig, Dun, Logie Pert and St Cyrus. The boundaries of this parish were modified as a consequence of the Local Government (Scotland), 1894.
