Kirriemuir is a parish, which lies in Angus Council Area, some 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Forfar and 13 miles (21 km) west of Brechin in Angus.
It is located in the old county of Forfarshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.
The parish has an area of 60.8 sq. km (23.5 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Kirriemuir. Kirriemuir has 8 neighbouring parishes; namely Airlie, Cortachy & Clova, Forfar, Glamis, Kingoldrum, Oathlaw, Rescobie and Tannadice. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
