Parish of Dundee

Dundee is a coastal parish, which lies in Dundee City Council Area, some 3 miles (4 km) north of Newport-on-Tay in Fife and 10 miles (16 km) west of Carnoustie in Angus.

It is located in the old county of Forfarshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 52.7 sq. km (20.3 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Dundee. Dundee has 6 neighbouring parishes; namely Dundee Combination, Liff & Benvie, Longforgan, Mains & Strathmartine, Monifieth and Murroes. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
