Parish of Tranent Tranent is a coastal parish, which lies in East Lothian Council Area, some 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Prestonpans and 7 miles (11 km) west of Haddington in East Lothian.It is located in the old county of East Lothian, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.The parish has an area of 23.9 sq. km (9.2 sq. miles).
