Parish of Dalkeith

Dalkeith is a small parish, which lies in Midlothian Council Area, some 3 miles (4 km) northeast of Bonnyrigg in Midlothian and 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Prestonpans in East Lothian.

It is located in the old county of Midlothian, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 9.5 sq. km (3.6 sq. miles). Dalkeith has 6 neighbouring parishes; namely Cranston, Edinburgh, Inveresk, Lasswade, Newbattle and Newton. The boundaries of this parish were modified as a consequence of the Local Government (Scotland), 1894.
