Parish of Selkirk

Selkirk is a parish, which lies in the Scottish Borders Council Area, some 7 miles (12 km) southwest of Melrose and 9 miles (14 km) northwest of Hawick in the Scottish Borders.

It is located in the old county of Selkirkshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 73.2 sq. km (28.2 sq. miles). Selkirk has 7 neighbouring parishes; namely Ashkirk, Bowden, Caddonfoot, Galashiels, Kirkhope, Lilliesleaf and Yarrow. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889 and again by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1894.
