Claire Grogan


1962 -

Actress and singer. Born in Glasgow, the daughter of a fishmonger, Grogan began her career as a waitress. She was 'discovered' by film director Bill Forsyth (b.1946) and was to star in his celebrated Gregory's Girl (1980). Grogan went on to appear in another Forsyth film Comfort and Joy (1984) together with various television series such as Father Ted, Red Dwarf and the soap EastEnders for the BBC. She was also successful as the lead singer of the short-lived punk-pop group Altered Images, who achieved two chart-topping albums and the single Happy Birthday.
