Kirsty McCabe


1975 -

Television weather presenter. Born in Kilmarnock (East Ayrshire) and educated at Grange Academy there, McCabe went on to study geophysics at the University of Edinburgh, living for a time in Pollock Halls of Residence and graduating in 1997. She then served as an intern at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in the USA before continuing her education at Jesus College, Oxford. McCabe went on to work at New Scientist magazine before joining the BBC Weather Centre in 2003. Subsequently she has presented the weather for a clutch of commercial and public service broadcasters on radio and television, including Reporting Scotland on BBC Scotland briefly in 2013.
