Richard Madden


1986 -

Actor. Born in Elderslie (Renfrewshire), the only son of a teacher and a fireman, Madden was educated at Paisley Grammar School. He began acting in 1996 with the Paisley Arts Centre's youth theatre programme, to overcome his painful shyness, and trained formally at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. He went on to perform in the Citizens' Theatre, the Globe Theatre in London and took the leading role in the BBC series Hope Springs (2009). However, he is best known as Robb Stark in the HBO series Game of Thrones (2011) and Prince Kit in Disney's Cinderella (2015). He has also starred in other television series, including Medici: Masters of Florence (2016) and Bodyguard (2018).
