David Mallet


(David Malloch)

1703 - 1765

Minor poet. Born at Muthill (Perth and Kinross), the son of a farmer, and educated at the High School and University in Edinburgh. Moved to London and changed his name from Malloch to Mallet. With James Thomson (1700-48), he wrote the rousing song Rule Britannia.
