Andrew (Andy) Mooney


1955 -

Businessman. Born the son of a miner in Bangour (West Lothian) and raised in Whitburn, Mooney left St. Mary's High School in Bathgate at fifteen to train as an accountant at the Uniroyal type plant at Newbridge. He then moved to Cameron Iron Works in Livingston and then to London where he joined international sportswear manufacturer Nike, rising to become the Chief Financial Officer of their UK division. He moved to the USA in 1994 to become Chief Marketing Officer for Nike but joined the Walt Disney Company in 2000. He is credited with revolutionising Disney's licensing and creating the Disney Princess franchise, now worth $45 billion. He was appointed Chairman of Disney Consumer Products in 2003. In 2015, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation.

Mooney now lives in Los Angeles but was awarded an honorary degree from Queen Margaret University in 2008.
