Thomas Cadell

Gun-maker. Born in Muthill, Cadell was perhaps the best maker of pistols in the world in the 17th century. He established his workshop in Doune in 1646. His weapons were beautifully made and highly ornamented, costing up to twenty guineas per pair. A set of Cadell's pistols were presented to the King of France and several other foreign dignitaries.
