SRUC Elmwood Campus

(Elmwood College)

A campus of Scotland's Rural College based in Cupar (Fife), the Elmwood Campus serves NE Fife as an agricultural and technical college. It is attended by around 5000 students, the vast majority on a part-time basis. Courses offered include traditional certificates, apprenticeships, evening classes and community-based learning.

Established in the early 1950s as Elmwood Agricultural Centre, providing specialist courses in agriculture and horticulture, following expansion through the 1960s, new buildings were erected between 1968-71. It now comprises two campuses; the original Elmwood site at Carslogie Road on the western outskirts of Cupar was purchased in 1953, while the Stratheden Hospital Farm site, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the southwest, was bought in 1971. The college was officially opened in 1972 by Sir Hector Monro (1922 - 2006). Through merger with Barony College, Oatridge College and the Scottish Agricultural College, It became part of Scotland's Rural College in 2012.

Now regarded as the premier centre for training staff for the golfing industry, courses in golf management, greenkeeping and caddying are facilitated by the College's own 18-hole golf course constructed in 1995 at Stratheden. The adjacent Cuparmuir Farm provides the locus for land-based studies which still form the core of the College's curriculum. Other courses include information technology, interior design, hospitality, office administration and sports coaching.

An Academy of Hair and Beauty, Equine Centre and the Fitness Suite were all added in 2001.
