Black Esk Reservoir

A reservoir with an earth embankment dam on the course of the Black Esk River in Dumfries and Galloway. Surrounded by plantation forest, the Black Esk Reservoir is located between Annandale and Eskdale, 3 miles (5 km) west southwest of Eskdalemuir and 8½ miles (14 km) southeast of Moffat. Opened in 1962 for the supply of drinking-water, it is now operated by Scottish Water and covers an area of 44.9 ha (110 acres).
