Loch Ardinning

A small reservoir in SW Stirling Council Area, Loch Ardinning is located close to the border with East Dunbartonshire 1¼ miles (2 km) south of Strathblane and 2 miles (3 km) north northeast of Milngavie. The central part of the loch is a natural, lying in a glacially-formed hollow. However the building of a dam across the outflow in 1796 created the northwestern arm. This was raised and widened c.1840 and rebuilt in 1991.

The loch lies at the centre of a Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve, which is noted for its bird-life.
