A small hospital in Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway, the Thomas Hope Hospital is a low Jacobean-style building, with a modern canopy projecting from the entrance. Built as the Thomas Hope Hospital for the Poor in 1894-96, it was named after its benefactor, a son of Langholm who had made his fortune in retailing in the USA. The hospital now has only 12 beds, providing medical assessments, rehabilitation and palliative care.
