Bogston Railway Station

(Baile na Fèithe)

Bogston Railway Station (Gael: Baile na Fèithe) is the least-used stop on the Inverclyde Line and is located at Gibshill, ¾ mile (1.2 km) west northwest of Port Glasgow and 2¼ miles (3.5 km) east southeast of Greenock in Inverclyde. This station opened in 1878 on the former Glasgow, Paisley and Greenock Railway, which had merged with the Caledonian Railway in 1851. It comprises two platforms and simple passenger shelters serving a double-track line which was electrified in 1967. The line splits just before Bogston, with the other branch going to Wemyss Bay. Now operated by ScotRail, Bogston Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by around 42,000 passengers per annum (2016). It is preceded by Port Glasgow Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the east southeast, and followed by Cartsdyke a similar distance to the west northwest.
