A distinctive dome located on Hay Street overlooking the North Inch in Perth, the Bell's Sports Centre lies a half-mile (0.8 km) north of the city centre. Named after Bell's whisky distillers, the centre opened in 1968 and includes a sizeable main arena, coaching hall, squash courts, weights room, meeting and conference rooms, together with catering facilities.
The Gannochy Sports Pavilion was built adjacent (1975-79) to provide changing facilities to support the rugby pitches on the North Inch and a base for the clubs which use them. The architect was Esmé Gordon (1910-93) of Gordon and Dey. The two buildings were linked, modernised and squash courts added 1989-91 and the centre was formally renamed the Gannochy Trust Sports Complex, although the name Bell's Sports Centre is still widely used.
The complex is run by Live Active Leisure on behalf of Perth & Kinross Council.
