(Thorters Reservoir)

A small reservoir in East Lothian, the Thorter Reservoir (sometimes Thorters Reservoir) is located 1¼ miles (2 km) southeast of Garvald, having a catchment of 36.5 ha (900 acres) in the foothills of the Lammermuirs to the south. The reservoir itself extends to an area of 5.9 ha (14 acres) and is impounded behind an earth embankment dam. Opened in 1900, it supplies North Berwick with water and is now operated by Scottish Water.
