Inverawe Power Station

A hydro-electric power station in Argyll and Bute, which draws water from Loch Awe via a barrage on its outlet, the River Awe. The Inverawe Power Station is located close to the mouth of the River Awe, where it falls into Loch Etive, a mile (1.5 km) northeast of Taynuilt, but is accessible only by the old military road via Inverawe House. This large rectangular building was built in pink granite 1959-65 and has a capacity of 22 megawatts (MW).
