St Andrew's Roman Catholic Church

A strikingly modernist church located on Brooke Street in the centre of Dumfries, behind the towers of the former St Andrew's Roman Catholic Pro-Cathedral, all that remain of that building which burned to the ground in 1961. The new church, in concrete and red sandstone, was the work of Sutherland and Dickie in 1963-64. The lowest point of the sweeping roof deposits water into a trough forming an unusual feature.
